The Saltaire

The Saltaire

Unbelievable opportunity to own an Outer Banks Landmark!

Located just south of Winks on the Beach Road in Kitty Hawk, this getaway has stood the test of time since the 1950’s! It continues to be a destination for those enjoying the simple carefree past of Outer Banks Vacations, but also enjoying the modern conveniences of air conditioning and a huge on-site pool!

While many of the original Outer Banks cottage courts have been torn down and replaced by large cottages, The Saltaire continues to offer its returning clients the same service and incredible beach location enjoyed for generations.

The Saltaire includes 11 units configured to 23 bedrooms. Most of the rooms are configured to be occupied as a one bedroom and/or two bedroom unit should the lockout doors be unlocked joining the two bedrooms! Kitchenettes and ample square footage and porches make this a favorite for returning guests year after year!

Beach access is provided by the additional conveyance of Lot #6 on the oceanfront. Deeded Beach Access makes this one of Kitty Hawk’s best available investments for the knowledgeable real estate investor here on the North Carolina’s Outer Banks!

Due to a decision of one of the current partners, this property has become available for sale just prior to another strong Tourist Season. Don’t Miss Out! Call us today for more information and to arrange a showing.

History

Built in 1955 by the Stokes family, the Saltaire was originally built as a summer vacation home. By 1957 it grew to 4 separate bedrooms, which were rented to families visiting the area. By 1967 it had enlarged to ten 2-bedroom apartments, 2 cottages, and a swimming pool. In 1973 the main house was lost during a winter storm. Mostly renovated in 2003-2004, the Saltaire stands steadfast after 40 years.

Unit 11 is a totally renovated beach house that belonged to the original owner’s son, while Unit 12 was the original owner’s home while at The Saltaire.

Many families return every year—moms and dads that once came here as children now teach their children how to swim in the Saltaire pool. Built with love and hard work, one family began a court that now welcomes many families every year.
