Built in 1955 by the Stokes family, the Saltaire was originally built as a summer vacation home. By 1957 it grew to 4 separate bedrooms, which were rented to families visiting the area. By 1967 it had enlarged to ten 2-bedroom apartments, 2 cottages, and a swimming pool. In 1973 the main house was lost during a winter storm.
